Fixated on fishing. Choose a hotel on a beach at Cabo San Lucas or around the marina. You'll be handy to the Cabo's record-breaking fishing fleet.
Golf is your life. Consider a golf resort hotel along the corridor. Hotel guests get special privileges like preferred tee times and attractive golf packages.
Golf widow. You won't even notice that your golfer has sneaked off if you choose a live-wire hotel near the course. Look for a hotel, resort or condo with a spa and poolside activities. Smaller is better for finding playmates.
Party animal. If you want to be near the funky watering holes of Cabo San Lucas, so stay close in. Then you'll always be able to get back to your room on your own two feet.
Just here to chill. Hide from the world, Hollywood style, at an elegant smaller resort along the corridor. No one will be able to find you except the concierge.
Whale watcher. From November to March you can view the box-car-size gray whales from anywhere along the water. Try for a room in a hotel on the Bay of Whales midway along the corridor road. That's where they swim a few yards from the beach
Looking for old Mexico. The historic town of San Jose del Cabo is for you. Stroll its narrow streets lined with restored 18th and 19th century houses. Pick up mangoes at the market. Buy an ice cream in Spanish and eat it on the square, as the life of the town passes before your eyes.
Shopaholic. This is a hard call for dedicated shoppers who want it all. As long as you have wheels, you can headquarter anywhere. Both Cabo and San Jose have shopping for all tastes. Cabo is jammed with everything from fine silver, blown glass and regional crafts to bikinis and souvenir gewgaws. The sedate boutiques of San Jose and the better hotels will run to silver designer jewelry, hand painted clothing, rare craft pieces and fine art.
Live to eat. If breakfast in bed and meals around the pool are your idea of heaven, any of the self-contained mega resorts should suit you fine. Some have three or four restaurants right on the grounds, ranging from coffee shop to finest gourmet. Culinary adventurers might prefer Cabo or San Jose, with dozens of fine stand-alone restaurants and tempting little drop-in places.
People watcher. Choose Cabo for people watching paradise, especially along humming Medano Beach, the crowded marina restaurant row and at the boisterous club scene behind the marina.
Counting your pesos. Many small hotels in Cabo and San Jose have bargain rates. A condo with kitchen can save tons.
Sky's the limit. Go on, pull out all the stops at one of the luxury resorts along the corridor. With golf, tennis, spa, pool, boutiques, restaurants, modem connections and pampering service, you may never even leave the grounds.
